I'll give you a quick rundown.......but I highly suggest doing a search on Youtube for RYONET screen printing how to

1. Buy a frame (which has screen streched on it already) $20
2. Spread emulsion on said frame
3. Create image and print on transparrent film
4. Burn image onto screen
5. Wash image out the screen
6. Put on ink, spread over t-shirt
7. Cure using heat gun or flash dryer.

Seriously it would take 2 hours to type out each step. Just do the youtube serach. here is a good one..... YouTube - Screen Printing overview

Emulison is the pink stuff that you coat the screen in. This is light sensitive and allows you to 'burn' your image into it. After exposure the emulision that wasn't exposed (since your image was blocking the light) will harden and the image will be able to be washed out.

A QT of emulison from www.silkscreeningsupplies.com is $24.xx and should be able to coat like 30 screens.

As far as inks for screen printing you should use Plastisol inks which can also be found at the above link.

Screen Exposure Stand

Costs about $45 and I've used it to expose all my screens so far. Though it takes a little longer (like 12 minutes) it's cheap.

If you read the thread a few near this one the guy is having trouble exposing his screens using the sunlight...I wouldn't suggest it, to many variables.

If you are unexperienced I highly suggest you find a waterbased ink to use as there are alot less harmfull chemicals involved in their use. Try speedball inks to get some practice they arent professional quality in my opinion but they are very user friendly and are safe and easy to cleanup. And yes you can use a flood light overtop to expose the screen, I did it my first couplre of times, it is easy to over or under expose but if you just getting pratice this is also a good way to start out without investing in an expensive unit. Just make sure to get all the safty information on the products you are using and follow the health and safety directions to the t' as something really are harmfull if improperly used.

You can cure plastisol inks with a heat gun, I've done it before it just takes longer.

Also I use a piece of glass over my image when using the exposure 'unit' posted above.

Plastisols aren't very harmfull if you have good ventilation and are not overexposed to it, they do give off mild vapours that after awhile of use can get a little rough on your organs( over years of unsatisfactory ventilation). the biggest health and environmental issue with plastisols are that they are a solvent based product that you can only clean up with a harsh chemical solvent. you should really get practice and learn as much as possible before getting into these inks. I personally want nothing to do with them as they are not enviro friendly and thats a big thing for me.
