Default First Nylon Job

Well after reading a lot from this forum and other articles on the web, I decided to do it myself. I tried my hand in nylon printing. Because my set-up is mainly for t-shirts and/or hoodies, I thought I couldn't do it. (Print on a nylon jacket)
But, I did it. And they came out great. Even without the hold-down.
Just want to share my job and say thanks to this forum for helping me out. where I am its hard to find good help.

Awesome!! Great job, looks nice.

Holddowns are necessary if you are printing items with some kind of lining, something has got to hold the jacket in place or else it will pull up.

Also, if you use the right ink and cure it properly, you should do just fine.

Wishing you continued success.

Greetings from Indianapolis, Indiana

Yeah! I was surprised on how good they turned out.
I used an ink sepecially for nylon. Ink that looked like white thick pancake mix and an additive that looked like honey. Mix 10parts ink and 1 part additive.
After mixing them together the ink was thin. But by the end of the job it was so thick I couldn't pull it. The job took about 4 hours.
After I finish (Knowing that this ink would harden if not washed off) I went to wash it off and MAN!! it just wouldnt clean. I tried everything.
So, I need to replace that screen now.
Curing wasn't that difficult. I had to raise the flash up to about 5" above the jackets. Let them cure for about 45sec. Seemed to be ok. I check with my temp gun. Never got above 310dgs

But for this to be the first time with nylon, I can't complain.

Smile Re: First Nylon Job

I am about to do my first nylon job. I read the post. Are there any other pointers you can suggest? I see you need a "nylon” ink and a holder. Anything else one might need or need to know before? What about screen mesh size?

Thanks,
Shogun

High screen mesh is good. 180-220
Nylon is very smooth and unlike cotton shirts, the ink sits nicely on it. Doesn't need much ink.

also watch your cure time. This stuff melts easily!!
