Default One of my screens just went "pop!"

Wow. I got this screen I've kept unreclaimed and masked up in tape for maybe a couple of months at the back of my shop. I started peeling off the mask tape off and all of a sudden it went "pop!" and the screen split in half all the way from one side of the frame to another. Obviously, the screen is ruined.

Just so I'll know next time - what exactly caused this? It wasn't a "worn out" screen by any means. I always thought it was one of my better screens. It had a high mesh count so the screen was of course "thin".

Thanks for all your replies in advance.

Sometimes leaving that tape on makes it hard to pull off. If there was a small burr on the screen frame edge, the force needed to pull the tape off might have been just enough for the burr to cut through the mesh, although I would think squeegie pressure would have done the same thing. Perhaps at some point the screen was resting against something that was just abrasive enough to weaken the mesh at that point, and the tape pulling was enough to finish the job, or maybe it's time had just come. I don't leave tape on my screens, even if I plan to reuse them at a later date. It always seems to be more trouble to fiddle with later.

Ok, better take off the tape early on. Don't wanna ruin any more of my screens.

Thanks.
