what's up printers,
I don't really have a problem reclaiming screens,
I use mclogan reclaimer and haze remover and a pressure washer but wqs thinking about getting a dip tank, to cut back on the chemical exposure and save a little time.
my question is, are they worth it,do they really work?
which one is the best brand?
is it any better than my way I'm doing it?
thanks
Dan
Aside from the "gunk" already mentioned, they are great.
Make sure that you get one with raised "ridges" on the bottom. That way the gunk will settle at the bottom of the tank and not the bottom of your screens which will be raised higher. Also another thing to make sure it has is an "evac" valve. Basically at the bottom of the tank make sure it has a valve for emptying the tank easily into a pail or bucket or whatever type of container you are planning on using to store and dispose of the waste fluid.
They work fantastic. We also keep ours right by the washoutbooth so we just dip them and go straight to the sink and wash them out.
Also, like was said above. Clean ALL the ink off the screen. There are ink & stencil removers (which I use in my dip tank), but they work so much better, stronger and faster when the ink is already off the screen. Also, it saves you emulsion remover because it doesn't get gunked up as fast with ink in the mixture.
Lawson makes some pretty inexpensive dip tanks, you should check them out. That's what I use.
I also have a Lawson tank and use their chemicals which removes ink and emulsion, it works like a charm. I try to refresh it with new chemicals instead of dumping the whole thing when it gets weak. I wouldn't dump it down my drain I have a filtering system so I dump it through there instead.
I scrape the ink off my screens and put them in the tank...pretty straight forward. The sludge that accumulates at the bottom from all the emulsion over time is gross. I bought a filtering system that's sits under my washout booth so I put it through there.
Hey, am I reading this right?? there is a 1 step dip tank solution that cleans ink from screen as well as strips emulision...The texsource rep was in and tried to sell me this "easy way" solution...how we do it now is spray rino ink degrader, scrub, pressure wash:dip scruber in diluted crystals(emulsion striper), scrub, wait 10 mins, pressure wash emulsion off:wash screen with dawn and rinse...done labor/screen is about 3-5 min..now a dip tank that does all this in 1 step ???sounds good please let me know if this one step process works or am i getting another "T'JET"......jeff
yes you got it the tanks aren't all that expensive you have to buy the chemical that is one step...I got my tank and chemicals from Lawson. Fill it up and put your screens in for a few minutes and then wash it out. Sometimes you still need to use haze remover and use the pressure washer and degrease and you're good to go.
