Default Ordering Screens

I am in the process of ordering meshed aluminum frames and my supplier has given me these options:

"This is what I have in stock at this time. There are 2 different grades - Canadian and Mexican (smaller and lighter profile)

160 mesh (Canadian) $43.81
110 mesh (Canadian) $43.81
125 mesh (Mexican) $29.33
85 mesh (Mexican) $29.64

We are low in stock at this time but should be able to fill your order if you get a mix of frames."

I understand that a higher mesh count is needed for more detailed work. I am a small shop looking to produce small runs of shirts for a local clothing brand.

Is it logical to order three lower mesh count frames (110) for logos with little detail and three higher mesh count frames (160) for more detailed artwork? Is 160 even that high of a mesh count, i've seen 200+?

I've chosen these numbers based on a $300 budget for frames but would appreciate any opinion.

I am going to assume that it all depends on how much work I plan on doing in a certain amount of time but i just want to get a feel for how many frames a small operation would include.

Check out silkscreensupplies.com
I use their aluminum frames for basic jobs, and they're around 20$ US a piece. For 110 mesh.

Decent, cheep, and flat.

Oh and I use 160 and up all the time. It depends on the artwork, and how much ink deposit you need. {Higher mesh leaves less ink on the screen}
For REALLY high details you absolutely need Yellow mesh. If I had a choice, i would have yellow mesh on every screen i own. Its really great.

For really soft hand, i will dilute the plastisol with Soft Hand Base, and print through 230 and up.

hope this helps

Silkscreen supplies is great but the shipping is quite expensive and I get really screwed with customs at the border when you order from them. I am in Ontario and is see you are in Vancouver ffokazak. Ryonet is located right across the border from you in Washington so its cheaper for you. I would suggest the Lancer Group in Markham or Winnipeg. My price list shows $37.95cdn for 20x24 aluminum frames with a 160 mesh and for 23x31 frames cost $43.25cdn. Great people, great products. Ask for Christopher if you order from Markham. Enjoy.
