say i screened printed like at home with known of the fancy equipment.. is there anyway i could make it more then one color? It wouldnt matter if it had alot of time to make because I want to make my own t shirts for myself as a hobby.. thank you
It would depend on how close your registration needed to be. It would be difficult to do without proper equipment if registration had to be exact. But if you are just screening one color over another it could be done.
I have a friend who would have artwork that really overlapped with no need for exact registration, and he printed on the floor, did one layer then used a heat gun to dry it, then did the second layer. You could do that
Mine was a hand-me-down, but I think you can get them for $40 or $50 at places like Home Depot.
I assume you're using waterbased inks since you're a hobbyist. In this case, you can use the heat gun to dry the shirts then iron them with a very hot iron for a couple minutes, to improve longevity of the print.
I got my first heat gun at Lowes for $29. But if you are using home waterbased inks, you don't really have to have a heat gun. the ink dries pretty quick and you would have to use an iron to properly set the ink anyway.
i still recommend a heat gun with WB inks. some don't dry to the touch fast enough for it to be easy to stack them, or do a second color quickly. Also with opaques on darks, like white on black, I would do the first layer, heat gun it, let it cool down a bit, then do the second layer.
