Default Ink flooding to print side

Hello to all....I'm printing images roughly 18 x 23 inches, one color, dark ink on light fabric on 173 and 200 mesh screens using plastisol. I try to flood the screen, but i seem to miss a few spots seeing as though the image is so big. To fill the image and make it opaque i end up having to make multiple passes. The passes, as few as 2, push the ink through to the print side and smudge against the shirt leaving a ghost image. What in the goodness is the prob?

thanks,
D

What size screen are you using. A good rule of thumb is to have about 2 inches on each side of the image to the inside of the frame.

As for the ghosting is the shirt held down properly? Is the screen loose in the clamps?

I'm using 25 x 36 in. The shirt is held down with adhesive and the screen is tight in the clamps.

I would guess that your squeege angle is too great or the durometer is too soft, or possibly both.

Other than that nothing else comes to mind.

Unless your press is slipping somewhere, maybe the registration pin/device or the platen itslef.

And that's all I need; this chair, this paddle game and....

get a good spread of ink in front of your squeegee, then pull it softly over the open area on the screen. Also, you may want to use a higher mesh count to avoid bleeding through.

As reported above, if you are getting a double image, something is moving. This will occasionally happen to everyone. The key is to find out what moved and fix it.
