Default Purchasing a New Printing Press

We're thinking of buying a 4 station/6 color press this summer. We're from MN and Northwest Graphic Supply has a Anatol Press for $3,800, and we'd be able to pick it up instead of getting it shipped. I was wondering if there was any feedback on Anatol Presses, if it's a good press, or if I should look at getting something else that would have to be shipped to me?

-Thanks
-Travis

I think Dennis at Westix has recommended Anatol to me before. I bought a Hix 6/6 from them and love it, but if he recommends Anatol then I know it's a solid press. Shipping my press was expensive so if you can pick it up, go for it.

Would you suggest that press to someone looking to upgrade, or should they hold out for a 8 color?

(I'm trying to plan for my tax return! )

you should go ISS chicago. I think it's soon. You'll be able to see riley hopkins on the tradeshow floor along with lots of other brands. Touch before you buy.

If they have the press on the floor, go see it in person and ask someone there to demonstrate all the features. Especially watch the action in the micros to check for any unwanted movement, or a lack of linear movement. Anatol is more well known for their autos, I think, but that's a pretty good price for a new professional-grade 6-color press. You also might ask the salesman for any referrals to printers who have purchased that press so that you might call them (or better yet, go see one in action in a working environment). You also might do a quick check on the forums at Screenprinters.net on the Anatol forum to check for kudos or gripes.
