Default 1500 Watt Metal Halide Lamps?

I keep reading how these Metal Halide exposure units are so great and burn screens super fast.

Couldn't i just buy a Metal Halide bulb, put it in a light fixture and burn screens? Maybe something like this

M1500/BU-HOR - 1500 Watt - Metal Halide - Plusrite #10762P Light Bulb

$25.00 sure beats 4K.. So i must be missing something here.

Ideas?

I not sure how that work's, but a 1500W lamp you would have to consider the voltage used to light the light and also how much current it would draw. I have seen 480v 1000W metal halide lamps in the electrical industry.

You can buy a 1000W metal halide with 110v ballast on ebay for less than $200. It's best to build it into some sort of cabinet, but yes, it can be done for WAY less than $4000.

Default Re: 1500 Watt Metal Halide Lamps?

i just got mine hooked up today its was a 1000 watt metal halide bulb but had to get the ballast and starter for it, cost little less than $200 for all, but if you had to buy it online im sure cost would go up due to shipping cost as the ballast for the bulbs are very hevy.
it does run on reg household eltc.
now i just need to get the sides on it so it will reflect the light (i guess this is correct) and get a suction lid on it i think books on top of the screen will wok till i get that part figred out
hope this helps
i dont get much chance to help anyone on here so many knowlagble(spl)people on here and all the newbies appricate it im sure
thanks to all how help us newbies out
