Default how to find a good salesperson for a screen printing shop?

Hey folks,

I am looking for any advice on how to find a salesmen for my Screen printing and embroidery company. We have one salesman that does about 900k a year and another 300k that is direct. I am just having a very difficult time finding someone with any experience. And most salesman want too much money to start. Does anyone have any thoughts or secrets to success on this topic?

Thanks.

Wow, sounds like you should hire someone who is charming yet has little experience and pay them to learn from your number one guy. Kind of clone the one you have, he sounds great.

I add with little or no experience so you don't need to re-train them.

Yes, 900k. I feel he sells too low to be honest. The work he sells isn't very profitable. He also won't be a great teacher. If the 900 sounded like bragging it wasn't meant to, I just wanted to qualify the level I am looking for.

thanks for the advice

Sorry, Spyder, I didn't understand that wasn't a good number when I responded. Numbers look good on the cover, then when you get a look at what they mean, it's a different story. I'm sorry, I wish I had something that could help. Sounds like a Human Resources question, and I've done very little hiring.

what methods have you tried so far to find a salesperson?

craigslist, local classifieds, job boards are a few ways I can think of.

Rodney,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried all 3 a few times. I seem to get unqualified people. I am back on Craig's list and have talked to a head hunter... we'll see. Thanks agian... MP
