Default Screenprinting on strips

Hi-
I am looking for some help/advice from some screen printers. I'm going to try to explain to the best of my ability what i am trying to do.

Our t-shirt line uses applique on all our tees. for this particular design, we used strips of linen (as wide as about a piece of scotch tape...about 4 inches long). We want to screenprint words on those linen strips. For sample purposes, my designer used a fabric pen to show where the print would be. What's the best way to go about this, and is it even possible being that the print must be on a very exact spot? is there another method that is better?

we plan on doing a lot of this, and would hate to develop more samples if we are looking do do something that is not possible.

Let me know your thoughts. any and all help/advice is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Rachel

Can you print on the material first, then cut them into strips?
