Default Drybox??

Has anyone used a drybox before and are they worth it? I found some plans for one and was thinking of building one after i finish my exposure box and flash dryer(by the way not going good so far).

What problems are you having with your exposure unit? I built one (now I have a HIX tabletop unit tho). Building a flash dryer seems more difficult and hazardous...

I built a drying box that I still use. It is basically a large wooden box that holds 14 upright 20X24" screens, with a filtered fan on the side. I want to redo it sometime, remove the fan and build in a box instead with a dehumidifier and also on the other side build another box that holds a couple dozen screens horizontally.

On my flash dryer i am using a broiler element for the heat source. So i wanted to make sure i had it wrapped for safety issues and to get the wiring tucked into the cover box i have wrapped around the tin sheeting. The problem is its getting to top heavy. The base, for the moment is just a 3/4" plywood with caster wheels. Going to have to cut down on the top design or add more weight to the base. I am also thinking of just putting a rail system along the ceiling and have it just hang from there and just slide it to the side when not in use and have it on an adjustable cable system to adjust the height. My main problem is me just over thinking how to do and make things in different ways, the inventor side of me i guess hehehe.

That looks like a good unit to build. I can't tell from the drawing, but what is the right side to hold?
Dehumidifiers are better than fans, as blowing air around can put dust/dirt/hair onto a wet screen. I bring my dog to the shop and occasionally there's one of his hair dried into the emulsion :|

Talking Re: Drybox??

The rightside of the box is for air circulation, it circulates counterclockwise according to pic.8. Also it looks like there is another circulating fan with filter on it in the lower rightside.

Figured out my top heavy issue with the flash dryer. Got rid of the wood cover and built another sheet metal cover only 2inches wider to allow a 1inch gap for air to help keep it cool.

I know about dog hair getting everywhere i have a 150lb puppy st. bernard and doesnt matter what you do that dog hair gets in it

It should be a big deal to you. I was excited to build my own exposure unit and it fit my needs for months. I still use my drying cabinet and am eager to expand it. (I might break out my graph paper tomorrow and design the addition)
Just be sure that anything you build with a heat source like your flash unit is safe. Your heating element will be several hundred degrees hot so be careful!
