Hey guys I just attempted my first screen and it didn't turn out so good. The photo is a halftone picture being printed on 110 mesh screen. I put the picture in the desired position and exposed for 5 mins 15 secs. When I went to wash out there were no half tone dots at all, some of the emulsion was pastey and falling off and some didn't even expose.
My prediction is that the screen was underexposed but I dont know why the halftone dots didnt register through.

Any input would be awesome
If this is your first screen printing attempt, I suggest staying awaying from halftones until you get the hang of spot color printing. The halftone dots didn't wash out because the screen was underexposed. 110 is too coarse for most halftone dots. What are you using to burn your screens? And how did you calculate to burn for 5mins,15 seconds?
Re: please help, very frustrated with first attempt
I purchased an exposure unit online and it came with a preset exposure time sheet and for 110 mesh it said 5 min 15 sec. The half tone was a really simple one color design......

you will probably need to do an exposure step test with your setup to find out what times your different meshes correctly expose at. then you could start looking into halftone production, probably on a higher mesh, depending on the dot size.
also 5m 15s sounds like diazo emulsion... don't forget to add the sensitizer!
