How do you adjust the off-contact? Coins taped to the screen? Are you serious?

When you lift the screen, how is it held up?

Is there a way to firmly attach the press to the work surface?

From what I can understand of the registration system, it doesn't sound like it's adjustable. For example, what happens if the image on your screen is off center a 1/16 of an inch? How do you adjust for this?

And not really relevant to functionality, but what does he mean by "Made in the USA"?? Were those pieces actually welded in the USA? Or did he just assemble a bunch of parts that were made in China?

have you checked craigslist for a used tabletop 4 color 1 station ?
you might find a better package deal for a printer and flash dryer because if doing plastisol you will need a $400 flash dryer too
unless you prefer a 1 color

stunn-

at first glance I didn't understand at all how the "micros" and the upgrades worked, or how it could possibly be 3 color... it actually makes sense now and is a neat idea for a low cost press. Also, i don;t see why it's limited to 3 colors... it seems like with this method you could print as many colors as you wanted if you had all the micros.

I don't know what your budget is, but unless it is, and will remain very tight, then I would not buy this press. even though it's a good price and a unique idea, I would go with a more reputable established press manufacturer. Something like the Riley Hopkins 4 color one station is a great mix of value and quality... it is very important to use a quality press if you want to produce quality prints.

I would recommend spending the extra money now. I guarantee it will save you headaches and money in the future.

Keep looking around though... there are a lot of great deals on used presses out there you might be surprised. I don't this i'm allowed to post the info here, but send me a private message if you are looking for a deal on the hopkins 4/1...

Looks like its worth the $100 if that is all your budget allows for, but for a little bit more you might be able to get something that will make printing easier, and keep you interested (and not frustrated) enough to continue printing. good luck

You could also buy the jiffy clamps and make one yourself out of plywood. For one color stuff, it's all you need.

As far as using coins for off contact, that's actually a good trick that some guys even use on top of the line presses.

Here's a link to jiffy clamps:
