Default help with exposure unit wiring...!!!

so to save money, I have decided to build a new exposure unit to replace my current method of using a halogen lamp.

I have read up on all of the past posts relating to this, and I pretty much know exactly what i need to do for either of my two options. The only part i don't know how to build is the electrical part of it...

I am either going with a single point source with a metal halide bulb.
I found the bulbs here
EYE, Sylvania and Venture Halide Lamps - Businesslights.com

or, I am going to use 6 or so fluorescent blacklight tubes. i found a good selection here
TopBulb.com - Product List

construction of either unit won't be a problem... But i have no idea how to wire the unit and what i need to purchase to do so...

can anybody point me in the right direction as to what ballasts, fixtures, wiring components or whatever else I will need to configure the unit (whichever type of light you may know about)... in fact, don't just point, please be specific because like i said, I haven't a clue when it comes to electrical stuff like this...

thanks!!!

depending on what kind of lighting source you are going to use, the wiring is different. how big are you planning on making your unit? you can go to home depot and buy the florescent fixtures and put some black lights in it, but make sure they are not filtered black light bulbs. the unit i have is made by atlas and it has like 10 black lights that are 24" long. you could buy a few of the 24" fixtures and use that. they come with plugs, just get a strip plug like you use for computers and plug them all into that. they come with a switch on them.

My suggestion is find a friend with enough knowledge to make him dangerous and get his help with the wiring. Hate to see you burn yourself down or worse yet get shocked over a home made exposure unit. Its just not worth it.

Generally all of your components will come with some kind of instructions you just have to be able to decifer them thats all. Take you time and tripple check all connections and wiring before throwing the switch.
