I have started a christian (oh no, not another), yes another christian t-shirt site. Actually, more of a christian culture site that will have tees for sale. I am attempting different levels of getting the word out, blogs, myspace, youtube, other social media outlets. I will keep you posted on any areas that work.
In the meantime, I have about 120 logo tees printed and am trying to sell. I am wanting to start adding some new designs, though. I am having problems with the cost justification of buying a used press and going at it myself as opposed to bidding out to a local printer and having them do it.
Questions:
1. yourself or a printer
2. If yourself, where can I get used equipment?
3. If printer, have you dealt with Jakprints? Good or bad. They offer polybagging, labels and tags which is tempting.
If you're going to do it yourself, those had best become one and the same
I screenprint myself. The forum is made up both of people who do it themselves, and those who outsource the printing. I think either is totally doable. There are large advantages to doing it yourself, but the time and cost drawback is also very real. Outsourcing the printing is still cost effective, so really it's just a matter of how you need to manage your time over the business as a whole.
There isn't a single right answer, so it's not really something people can say "do it this way, it's better" - you need to work out which works better for you.
