Default How to clean the screen of paint...?

This is the first time I've done screenprinting and I got a screen made and went to do some test runs on it. Bottom line is it got pretty messy trying to scrub the paint back out of the screen. I tried using a bit of paint thinner but it was an ordeal. So far everything I read or watched people said the paint just wash's right out. After doing some prints I went straight to the sink to wash. So did I do something wrong? Should I be thinning out the paint (it was pretty thick...the same as regular house paint)? Use something else to clean it?

Default Re: How to clean the screen of paint...?

to start of... screen printers do not use "paint", they use ink. If you are trying to print with paint then that is your problem. Where did you purchase your equipment, and this "paint" that you are using?

if you are using ink, then it is most likely plastisol. With plastisol you are able to scoop and wipe away the ink when it is time to clean the screen. For the remaining ink that is not wiped away, you usually spray a plastisol ink remover and screen cleaner such as CCI's screen wash 147 and then just wipe the rest off...
