We would like to do a foil print over an existing plastisol print. is this possible? I know you are supposed to use a water based ink, but can you screen a platisol image on a shirt and a foil image on top of it without the foil sticking to the entire image? Any possible combinations for this process to work? thanks...

The foil will stick unfortunately.

If the design is not too detailed, you could try to mask the plastisol ink with a teflon sheet under the press?

We have run a plastisol job with foil before but it was a very tedious and painful process. The foil needed to go down first. The job went as follows:
- Print foil base
- Flash foil base
- Apply foil (with iron, whilst still on the board)
- Print base
- Flash base
- Print final colour.

I prefer to screen print metallic inks rather than apply foils.
Metallic inks do have a good sheen, you can get finer detail, they are easier to run (and cheaper), but most unfortunately tarnish after 4/5 washes.
