How are you? I recently purchased a screen printing package. I am finally trying to print, but have trouble adjusting the press. To be more specific, I cannot figure out how to get the 1/8 inch between the screen and the platen. Any advise would be incredibly helpful...
I watched online videos and did some research, but unfortunately I'm still clueless! The problem is in the piece of metal holding the screen - it blocks the screen arm to go down any further, if that makes any sense? The shortest distance we are able to get (with a little luck and messing around), is 1/4 inch or maybe a little more than that. And the tighter we screw down the screen, the bigger the gap.
Actually, I believe the gap may be slightly thicker than 1/4 inch, which concerns me. I do realize that the screen will flex, but with a bigger gap, it seems like I will have to force it (and that doesn't seem right). It is definetely not to pennies thick - lol! How concerned should I be?
Thank you so much! I look forward to your response and always helpful advise! Have a wonderful day - Karolina
hello there, you should have two ways to adjust your off contant ,when your screen comes down into print position ,there is a piece that it rests on , usually it is plastic, that is attatched to a bolt that you can either adjust higher for more off contact or lower for lower off contact . also you may have two bolts in the back of the (thing for lack of a better word) that holds your screen in place ,you can loosen those and you will have additional room to adjust your off contact. if you could include what company makes your press it would help. good luck and keep trying you will get it .
I just reread your post and I noticed you said your screen was getting blocked from going down futher. the metal piece should not rest on your platen it should be just behind it . hope this helps , you can move your platen forward and back as needed.
Thanks guys! Actually, the printing equipment was purchased as a package from a guy who thought he was going to make shirts, but later changed his mind... He never used it, the aluminum screens are brand new! I may be able to contact him and find out where he got the press.
I tried attaching some photos, but the files were too large... The bolts are pretty tight, too tight for me - lol! I agree that the metal piece should be behind the platen. Makes a lot more sense! Thanks again!!!
