Default off contact settings

I am trying to learn about off contact settings, My machine was pre set for T shirts, but my customer now wants 2 sweatshirts with the same design. THey are heavy sweatshirts, and when I put them on the pallet the are flush against the screen. 2 questions, about how much space between table up and bottom of screen, and does anyone know how to set the off contact on an Anatol semi automatic press? Mostly how much space?

I don't remember the name, but Anatol used to make a press with automatic heads and a manual index. If this is the press you have, I think it has the same central off contact as their automatics. If you look under the press below the load station there should be a round knob that can be turned to adjust off contact.

As far as the proper off contact, there is no exact answer since variables like screen tension, substrate printed, ink used, etc all effect the required off contact. With tight screens 1/8 inch above print should be enough. In general you want the least amount of off contact that will ensure that the mesh releases from the print right behind the squeegee.

Tim thanks, that does sound like the machine I bought, I will look when I get into work tomorrow for the knob. Also, thanks for the guidelines for the amount of off contact.
