Default Using a vinyl cutter for stencils?

I want to create stencils on my vinyl cutter. If anyone has done this, I'd like to know whether plastisols or water-based inks work better with the vinyl.

My hesitancy with vinyl probably relates to how well the vinyl will hold up. I'm thinking one type ink may make the vinyl last longer? In terms of image placement on garments, does one ink tend to seep under the edges of the vinyl more than the other? And is it best to place the stencil on top of the screen, or mirror image and place it on the bottom?

I know of some who do it this way. Not the best method yet it will work for smaller runs

I have been thinking about this. My suggesstion is to cut the vinyl and apply to your mylar to use as your positive for burning your screen. The nice part about this scenario is that the sign software will allow you to easily do color seperations and everything will be the same size with sharp edges.

ooo i jus thought of this as well.

but the potential problem i can see would be the complexity of the design. if the design is complicated, then its kinda diff to weed and have a gd transfer onto the mesh. but i think it might jus work for letters and simple designs.

perhaps someone has already tried this method and willing to share? i dun have a silk screen setup though, otherwise i would have tried it.

Do a search on here, it has been talked about a few times. OK for short runs, some people prefer putting the vinyl ink side and some prefer garment side. I think waterbased ink is prefered.

I've done it a few times using vinyl straight onto a t-shirt and either using an airbrush to spray it on (water based)or a sponge to dab it on. It works great, nice sharp edges, good detail, but can only be used once like this for one off creations.
