Default Question about inks and washing

What's up guys, I'm new to this forum and screenprinting in general. So i just ordered everything i need to start making my shirts.

And i was planning on using waterbased ink, but my question is what is the best of best for waterbased (provide website on where to order if possible). I def am going to be doing white, yellow, and light colors on dark shirts. And everything will be printed on american apparel blanks and are what would consider to be fashion designs, from trendyblanks.com.

oh and one more thing, would you recommend washing shirts before or after printing on them. Because i recently ordered some shirts to be printed on the internet, and some of them had wrinkles in the ink if you get what im saying

peace all

Matsui brand is popular with several printers here.

Hey thank you, and the only reason i ask about shrinking before hand is because, on a batch of shirts i orderd over the internet after being sold and laundered, some of them had wrinkles in the ink.

I doubt the wrinkles would have been caused by shrinkage. We use american apparel sometimes and while all cotton shirts will shrink a bit, I have never seen wrinkles develop after washing. Perhaps is was caused by the type of curing (or non-curing) that was used? We use a heat press to set our waterbased inks. If you are using a traditional dryer, the ink may not be setting in to the fabric and wrinkles may occur.
