Hi,
I have owned retail stores for 20+ years and always enjoyed making signs with Coreldraw. Now I would like to start making my own tee shirts to give away and possibily sell. I just dont know where to start. Classes? What type of equipment?
I dont want to buy something too big for my needs. I put an add for a teacher on Craigs list and I was refered to this forum. I am glad you guys are here.
Thanks,
Laura
my boss just bought a 6color 4 station press off craig's list and I watched videos on youtube to figure out how to use it. I figured out most things through trial and error but I'm getting a handle on it we did a 1 color run and it came out great the hard parts are exposure times. if you have the brains to run retail stores then I'm sure you can pick it up pretty quick.
Hi,
Thanks for responding. Can you ballpark me about how much your boss paid for the press? Also if you have a link to the youtube instructional you watched that would be great.
Thanks,
Laura
If your looking for instruction on how to print go to the following web-site, U.S. Screen Print & Inkjet Technology there are classes available. Check out the T-Jet may be what your looking for.
When you begin learning the trade, begin with the screen making process. That's the first thing you will need to figure out and master, and it's the most important step in the whole process. If your screens aren't good, the press won't matter.
Figuring out what press to get will greatly depend on your budget.
he's paying about $8000 for the press a belt dryer, flash dryer, hat attachment, and long sleeve platen with a bunch of inks and solvents seems like a pretty good deal. as far as youtube just look up "silk screening" and you'll get a bunch of results but this link the guy has a lot of good info. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
I do not need silk screening stuff right now.
I got all that stuff from Press a Print two years ago.
I have only done a little silk screening. I am very rusty on that, and I still have a pad printer I haven't even used. I bought a direct garment printer GT541, and heat press. It work great! I uses alot of colors on shirts, except white on black, and dark color T-shirt.
Thanks for being helpful, and for providing me with information. It is good to know some people in same business. I just have to get my business going now.
