I got a 1520 for 20$, and it works.....kind of.
I have A G5 running Tiger 10.4.
Printing from my mac yields faded prints, with many lines through the graphic.
I got the heads cleaned, and she showed me a sample, it prints great. Thick black, no lines etc. {Shes on a PC}
I bring it home, and same thing. Lines, and faded. I even took it back and said, "You didnt clean it well enough". Turns out she did, and its an issue with .........what. Thats where I am.
I use a Parallel to USB cable. Could this cause the issue?
Has anyone ever had issues with drivers for epsons, and OS X?I print with the newest Gimp print.......
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also am this close to buying FastRIP...Could that solve the issue?

My guess is, it's a communication issue. When you get a good pattern but it still prints bad, then somewhere, communication is breaking down.
Settings for what?
The printer?
I dont think I have much control over the settings......
Ive heard people talk about say, " Black light film" But im not sure how to access the settings......
Thanks!
I think you are in the black hole called Mac OS. My wife is an avid mac user and we have more 'intense' discussions over the compatibility of the mac OS and printers of various kinds...Ever since mac quit making hardware, like printers, this has been an issue. The manufacturers are not all that interested in catering to a market that is roughly about 5-6% of the computer world. I will quickly agree that the mac produces good graphics when one has the right program/hardware..
In your case I suspect the problem is having the jerry-rig the connection between printer and computer. If it works with PC then that is certainly possible and then again..it just might be a plain compatibility problem

I'm not so sure you can blame it on the Mac OS, since this printer was both Mac and PC compatible when manufactured. The issue is taking an outdated printer and connecting it to a newer computer. When you have to "jerry-rig" your connection, the communication gets lost. Outdated computer with outdated printer would be fine, but outdated printer with newer computer, becomes a problem with printer connections etc.
The fact that it prints a nozzle pattern perfectly proves the jets are not clogged. When printing without proper cables, you can lose good communication. If you are using a parallel to USB connection, make sure they are high quality cables. If you want to test it on a PC (assuming you have the PC cables it came with), see what happens. If you don't have access to a PC, then if you had proper cabling this would most likely fix the problem unless the wiring on the inside of the head is messed up. That's why it's good to test on a PC to make sure it's functioning properly. If it works on a PC, then invest in better cables since it wouldn't be inside wiring.
