Default Washout after burning a screen...problem.

Hi Folks
I see there have been a few threads recently regarding washing out the emulsion from screens. I have read them but they don't help with my problem.
I have my screen set-up in a spare room in my house, which is fine for exposure and printing but not so hot for washout.
My problem is this... after exposure I need to take my screens outdoors to wash them out and I am concerned that his may affect the emulsion due to daylight exposure. Would it be beneficial to partially start the washout process by spraying with water before taking them outside? Would this prevent any unwanted daylight exposure?
I could washout the screens in my bathroom but I' not to keen on doing this in my bath. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Regards
Paul

Thanks Fred... do you think it is necessary to start the process by spraying with water first before taking the screens outdoors, or does it make little difference?

I have used these two methods before:

1. Washed them out early in the morning or late at night while it is still dark outside.

2. When I had to do it during the day, I would put it in a thick black plastic garbage bag. Take it outside and wet it down while still in the bag.

Both methods worked fine.

I do the same exact thing as splathead.
Ultimately I too find it MUCH easier to wait till the sun is down (or coming up) before I do any exposing of screens.
I have found that at around 3-4 o'clock pm - if I were to take a screen to the washout area outside (ehem... my garden hose on the side of the shop) - I have seconds before the emulsion is set in stone..... other times of the day seem to vary - Im sure it has something to do with the angle of the sun.

Hope you find the right process that works for you!

Thanks a lot guys.... great advice, sounds like I shouldn't have too many problems. I like the sound of wetting down the screens before taking them out, it seems to make sense if the emulsion is already starting to washout it shouldn't be able to expose to the daylight. Thanks all, as usual a great help.
Regards
Paul

Haha - I hear you Fred! Im on a mission from God myself! I've been drafting up plans for a washout booth that is made with Hardi Board (a cementious based board) and a Marine grade coating from Sherwin Williams that is also chemical resistant (or so they tell me)... I think I can customize something like that a little easier to fit myshop instead of the metal ones I see online).
All told, Hardi Plank, 2x4s, lexan for the back (because I want it illuminated), light fixture and some pvc fittings to plumb it - I can walk out the door for right around $125.00 (or so I hope).
Good luck Fred on the washout room though! Pics/progress updates as they come?

Later
Mike

If you get the screen wet and then take it out side you will be fine. You dont have to put it in a bag or wait till night time. Also at home depot they sell white 4x8 sheets of plastic particle board that works great for a wash out booth. To seal it use rhino liner from auto zone. No chemical will penetrate it. Caulk is not strong enough.

Hey Paul,

I normally wet the screens before I go outside to wash it out it works good for me and if it drys before i can wash everything out I jus use the pressure washer and shoot it out not to close though you might remove some of the design.
