Default New to the forum, looking for some advice on printing

Hi, I'm fairly new here, I've done a lot of reasearch using your archives.

I've been doing fashion design for 12 years for the mass-market, and some non-mass market industry. I did a lot of hands on work in college, and now I do alot of the work using the computer and sourceing everything overseas. I'd like to produced some prototypes and I want to make sure my money goes in the right direction.

What I'm trying to produce is screens for shirts 15" wide X up to 36" length
Which I've never attempted something this large.

Recently I've had some technical difficulties and I need to get the right tools for the job. I've recently lost both my b&w laser and my color printer.

I'm thinking about investing in a samsung laser printer for transparencies. Is it possible to piece together transparencies?

I'm not a lover of chromablast or sublimation printing, but I need a new wide format printer, my last epson was so-so, I was wondering if anyone recommends any other wide format printers?

I have a heat transfer press and I was going to invest in a nice vinyl plotter, but maybe later.

Search for "R1800" on these forums for an exhaustive investigation of inkjet for positives.

Do not buy a Samsung laser to make positives. No Postscript, not enough deposit.

Thanks for the quick reply, I had feeling my printer was about to die and was researching that specific printer. You're background is quite impressive, and I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions about the business.

Thanks,
J

I have pieced transparencies. I use a Dell 1300 CN laser printer, for the time being and am stuck with 8 1/2 By 11 tranparencies. My biggest challenge was to piece together aome half toned sheets. I had to make sure all the dots were on one sheet then cut and tape. What a pain. But it worked.

Tedious, but possible. A light box is highly recommended for the task.
