Same design different color - is it same or different?
I have a question that I hope a screen printer on the forum can answer -- if I have the same design on 2 shirts (i.e. a men's and a women's), and I want to order the same 1 color design with a different color on the women's shirt than the men's shirts, would a printer generally charge this as a second design? I don't understand enough about the printing process to know if a design is color-specific.

Thanks!
Usually charge a "change of color" charge, $5-$15. Some don't.

Your first problem will be if you want 2 shirts screen printed, most screen printers have a 12 or 24 piece min. order. (and a fee for a color change in a print run as stated before)
Heat applied vinyl would be a good fit for just 2 shirts with a different color vinyl on each. You could also change the size of the art between shirts.

one would think yet this would be determined by the printer/company as all do not follow this rule. You may want to make sure with the plasticol transfer company for the most accurate answer.

Thanks much! Yes, it is two large groups of shirts, with the men's shirt having the design in one color and the ladies' shirt having the same in a different color.

Not colour specific (other than ink change charges), just size specific. If you're going from a women's XS to a men's 3XL you may want more than one size for the design though. On the other hand if you're doing S-L in both you're not likely to. It really depends on the art, etc. in question.
But as a generalisation, colour change doesn't need new screens.
