i am having an issue with some sweat shirts. we printed them with the super op orange in k and looked fine when they cam out of the dryer. but now the ink seems to have taken on the color of the garment it self. we have printed this way many times before and its just caused its first problem. could it be the heat from the dryer doing it as we tested it and it gets up to the proper temp. we are now reprinting them with a underlay but my question is why i have been baffeled by hundreds of questions from the owner as to why i would let something like this pass to the customer. and i have no answer for him and he does not like that. if i could find a reason i could tell him but nothing of why it happened. and this has only happened on the sweats.
If They, the shirts are 50/50 cotton polyester then you have dye migration. You will have to do one of two things: 1.Print an underbase in white and FLASH IT!!! This will slow down or stop dye migration.
2. If you are using a light colored ink print an underbase and flash it then print it again and properly dry it. OR you could use 100% cotton sweats (they are usually 90/10 cotton polyester.
