Hi all,
My main client needs a nice solid red (like FF0000) on a black shirt, and I've experimented a lot with various brands of red ink on a Matsui brand 1-layer white underbase. Everything I've done comes out pinkish and doesn't please my client. I got closest to my goal today when I used Matsui "Rubine red" but it's still sort of pink. I've also tried mixing black into red to make a dark red but that still looks kinda pink. (These are all water-based inks)
What's the secret? Any tricks?
I need to do a purple on black wednesday with a white underbase and I hope it comes out ok.
Thanks
I don't see why the underbase would affect the colour of the top layer of ink. Are you flashing the underbase before you print the red on top? I admittedly have never done multicolour waterbased work, but I would assume that it should be fine as long as the underbase is dry.
White underbase always messing with red ink. Your best bet is to print flash print the red. Not real sure how well this will work with waterbased but we have this issue with plasticols which are more opaque than waterbased inks.
so to get an opaque print on a white underbase with waterbased inks you have to print a clear over the white? WOW! more colors, more screens, more print time.

Glad I print with plasticols.
You said it Richard!!!

from what I have read, softer feel yet seems to be more of a hassle, especially after reading all the threads and issues people are having with waterbased inks. At least on dark tees which is 85% of my printing
