About 6 months ago I purchased a speedball kit and a photo ez kit, they have both been sitting unused in my office all this time.
Last night I coated the speedball screen with sensitized emulsion but its appears to have been a disaster.
This morning I tried the photo ez and im very impressed, especially as its past the shelf life of 6 months and has not been kept in a fridge ! It was extremely simple to produce the screen.
However, I have just tried printing the image in white on a black shirt and I dont seem to be getting enough ink through the mesh. I have tried versatex and speedball inks. Maybe its the wrong kind of garment for screen print ?
It looks ok, but just not solid enough.
This is a method that has now got my attention because I can make a screen in less than an hour with no pots of emulsion or sensitizer to worry about.
If anyone can offer any tips I would be grateful, my primary use will be single white prints on black.
I know nothing about your topic , but you should contact the company and get them to help you out. Then please post your findings to help others out . Good luck....JB
Make sure you expose it long enough and when washing it you look very closely to the screen and make sure there is nothing in the way.
Sometimes the screen is not completely clear of the paper, use a soft brush to clean off the residue.
It actually appears to be the inks, I have just done a test with speedball black on a white tee and its ok. The versatex is no good for 1 white coat on black.
I have a pot of permaset supercover white on order and im hoping this will be more opaque, I dont really want to use plastisol because im not happy with the idea of buying a conveyor oven.
I've tried both of those ink as well and printing white on dark forest green shirts.
I had the same problem. On the small pocket image it was ok with 9-10 squeege strokes.
But for larger prints it is really, really tough to do white with the ez screen print stuff.
The problem being is it's really hard to get a good coat with one or even 2-3 passess. You almost need to flash the first coat and repeat. Yet with ezscreen print you can't get registration as your not on a press. If you were to put the fabric on a screen, you could possibly flash it if you were using a table top single color press.
I've been were you are, white is really difficult.
