I am just buying my equipment. I have narrowed it down to the 6 color Riley hopkings press with a flash cure and conveyor dryer or the Printa 6 color system, flash cure and a conveyor dryer. Please let me know your opinions or if you have either and your thoughts on ease of multicolor printing. thank you
You may want to look at a few other presses, such as Hopkins BWM, Workhorse, or Vastex. The only real caution I'd place with the Riley Hopkins presses is with the joystick registration. Some like it, some don't, and it's quite a bit different from everything else, requiring 2 hands to use. Truthfully, I suspect that it just takes some getting used to, but I've read comments from users that really dislike it. If possible, try to go see presses in person, and mess around with them a little before commiting to one. A lot of us have found out the hard way (me in particular).
i have a workhorse and the micros are probably it's weakest feature, but i really don't have to use them often. i saw a hix a few months ago for the same price as my workhorse (show special) and i wished it was mine, nice micros, unique hinge setup, very solid machine
I have a Riley Hopkins 6/4 and it's a well built press. I have the joystick, but wouldn't really recommend them. They are not true micros. The joystick just helps you eye-ball register your screen before tightening it down (and it usually always moves a little when you tighten it). But you can upgrade to XY registration for like $50 a head, which is pretty cheap. I plan on upgrading about half of my heads to XY. The Joystick is great for 1-color, or the 1st screen of your multi-color setup. I'm assuming you can mix and match.
Thanks everyone. I may need to look at other presses. The Long Beaach trade show is next week so I will wait until I get there to purchase. I am just starting and I do not want to overspend or underspend. I will look up the Hopkins BMW, Workhorse and Vastex on the internet before I go to the show.

That always happens to me And i thought i was the onyl one
I was just told by SSS that you can't change the heads after the fact because they have to calibrate them at the factory. So I guess I'm stuck with the joystick. However, if I did it again, I'd probably get 3 or 4 of the heads with XY micros.
