Hello All,
I have seen some tees screen printed that when you run your fingers over the design its not as rubbery feeling, like most screen prints. Not sure of the technical term. How is this done, is this a special process?
I want this look and feel - it looks as if the image is actually a pattern on the t-shirt and not just a plain tee with a graphic laid ontop.
Forgive me if i am not making sense. I want to do a imagine with lots of dot and don't want the bumpy feeling all over the tee.
There a few different ways to create this effect. You can add softeners and reducers to a plastisol ink which is the easiest way.
Waterbase ink is also much softer, however it is more difficult to print. Discharge ink is the softest, however you really need to know what your doing to use this technique.
Hi Bee, I think you might be thinking a discharge type print,where the garment is first printed w/ a bleach type substance to remove the ink, then other colours are printed on top.I think..

Sorry to confuse you - i am not a screenprinter myself - for my initial deisgns i sent them out to a printers. i was wondering what kind of screen printing service do i need to find who can do this kind of work.
So if i went to a screenprinters, would i ask them if they can print with water-based inks, is that what i ask?

your on the right track, It's a bleach and a pigment all in one ;One pull of the squeegee and the bleach takes out the dye from the shirt and replaces it with the pigment.
Bee, discharge gets great vibrant clours onto dark garments, but waterbased is pretty close on light coloured garments.
