Default Another question from a new guy.

A friend and I have recently ventured into the screenprinting world and have a question. Is it standard practice to clean the ink off screens and store them (with image still on) for later use or do most people just reclaim them.

I clean the ink off when I'm done printing, but do not reclaim them until I need to use them again. That way, if the customer happens to want to re-order the same design, you still have the screen for at least a little while. I think most companies rotate their screens so they probably reclaim the screens with the oldest designs on them first.

Like Rusty, I do the same.
Only thing that I have found is that it can be a little more dificult to get the emulsion off the screen after it has been on there for a longer period of time. Still, nothing a pressure washer can't take care of.

I would say to keep them for a few months, however reclaim them if you need them. It's not that hard to reburn them if the client happens to come back. It's kind of a tricky area. I think everyone has there own idea on how long to hold screens.

Im to the point now that if a customer is not going to print the same job again within a month I'll reclaim it, just because I need the screens and sometimes its easier to reburn them as opposed to looking for them. Good Luck
