We've hit a bump. One of our designs creeps far up, into the shoulder and also across the chest, exceeding the 12'x12' printable area the sc.printer says they have.
Q: What are the ways to screen print a design that exceeds 12'x12'?
I considered breaking the design up into two sets of screens, printing one half, then the other- but I don't really know what kind of visual effect it will have (ie, line, misalignment).
Q: Should I go with another printing method? Which? (belt?)
Q: Anybody happen to know of a belt printer location in Central Florida?
Much thanks, Rodney.
Didn't mean to litter your forum with repeats.
I ran a search and turned those up myself- I just figured I'd ask if it's preferable to break up a screen design or switch to another method, and which method.
If that discussion is already on that thread, I apologize. Guess I'll tuck myself in and read the entire thing.

No worries, I was just trying to answer the other parts of your post regarding belt printers.
There are also some threads about how to do oversized printing, but I don't know if they cover splitting the designs into two screens.
I've heard of splitting the design up into two screens and I think it can work effectively on some designs.
It might be something that needs to be taken on a case by case basis.
Are you doing the printing yourself or are you outsourcing it?
There are also bigger screen sizes that can be bought and used (or made).
For example, Raw Talent Inc has a "Jumbo" sized print that goes up to 28" x 24". Their standard size is 17" x 14".
So I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think there is a 12" x 12" print limitation for "all" screen printing Screen printers are only limited by the size of screens that they carry. For some their largest is 12 x 12, for others it is much larger.
Rodney,
Useful information in that response. So there ARE larger screens! We outsource locally and our printer had us thinking there is a 12'x12' limit. So really, it's THEIR limitation. Guess I gotta talk them into acquiring larger screen sets or find another printer.
Q: How do I break the 12'x12' screen print limitation?
A: There is no 12'x12' print limitation, there are larger screen sets available up to and including 28'x24'. You need to find the right equipment. (paraphrase from Rodney)
While I have your attention,
Q: Is there a section for networking? I mean, is there someplace I can go here to instantly plug into local printers and chat with local designers?

I'm not sure what you mean by "plug into" or what kind of "chat" you mean.
If you need printing services, you can post in our classifieds section once you have 15 posts in the forums. Printers will be able to respond to your post via private message.
The internet has made everything "local" Our whole forum is about networking and talking with other designers, printers about process and design questions.
In order to cut down on spam, actual requests for business services are best left to the classifieds and private message. Just by participating in the forum, you'll see talented designers and printers in the normal course of discussion. You can contact those members via Private Message and talk about any services you may need. Happens all the time
Thanks Rodney, for giving me the newbie once-over. That classifieds section- that's what I was after.
Q: Is there a section for networking?
A: You can post in our classifieds section once you have 15 posts in the forums. The entire TSF is for networking. (paraphrase from Rodney).
And you hear it all the time, but I really appreciate what you're doing here.
And you were right, I already got some printer messages!
I love this industry.
Many thanks.
Zack
