Default New to Screen printing. lil help!

Well I have ventured into screen printing. Well I started off buying the opaque speed ball kit. Also picked up a quart of Triangle Ink Phoenix White.

First problem, When doing my first 2 attempts to transfer my art work to my screen.. The very middle of the screen seemed to burn and darken and the rest would wash out fine. I figured that the flood light bulb was putting too much heat on the middle of art work thus burning it.

Third attempt on transferring my art to screen with a 150w bulb and 1hr exposure, I had a winner. The screen washed out great.

Now onto the actually screening part. First I tried the Triangle white.
heres how it came out

The ink didnt seem to get all over the shirt.. It gave it a faded look. Im not sure what Im doing wrong? And also this Triangle Ink is a killer to clean up. I was scrubbing my squeegee, hands and everything else forever to get it all off..

Then I tried the Speed ball Silver ink.
heres how it came out

It came out the same way the white did. Giving me a faded look. Any ideas?
But... the Speedball Silver ink was a dream to clean up. It just came right off with no problems.

Well any help or comments would be very appreciated.

thanks in advance.
Justin

It's hard to be sure, but it looks like the main problem is just that you're laying down one layer; most inks won't give perfectly opaque results on dark fabric with one print, you generally need to flash it and give it a second hit.

If you're not doing a flood stroke that might be contributing to the patchiness on the silver.

I agree 100% with Lewis. Looks like you need to print flash print. Using waterbased inks I have seen where you may even need a 3rd print. - print flash print flash print.
