Default Four Color Wet On Wet Printing

Wet On Wet, Not Sure If Thats What You Would Call It. Anyway Im Hoping To Print This Artwork With Only One Flash. I Want To Print The Green, Grey, And The Red, Then Flash, And Then Print The Black. The Black Will Overlap The Other Colors. So My First Questions Is Would This Be A Good Idea. Second What Mesh Count And Ink Should I Use. I Will Be Printing On White 100% Cotton Tees. So Far Im Thinking Of 160 Mesh Count For All. And If This Will Work What Type Of Ink Should I Use. I Have Access To Union And Rutland Inks. Will Any Emulsion Due For This Kind Of Printing And How Thick Should I Make My Screen/emulsion Coat. Any Other Tips Will Be Greatly Appreciated

You should be able to print this as you stated. I would print in this order
  1. Grey
  2. Red
  3. Green
  4. *Flash*
  5. Black
160 mesh will work just fine. Coating like any other screen will do. This is method of coating
  1. outside
  2. inside
  3. outside
  4. scrape the inside
Use the thin side of the coater.

Inks - Rutland or Union are good inks so either will do just fine.

Just a thought - I would rework the text around the design. Either a different font or at least bold the font used. looks like arial and was just slapped on there. Adding some artistic layout to the text will make that design pop that much more. Making use of the colors in the logo will also help.

I hate it when that happens. Ever worse when they tear apart a great layout.
Cheers

Is the flash really needed?

i wanted to do a flash because i will be overlaping the black just a bit. my machine is not the greatest so i choose not to use butt registration. do you think i can still get away with no flash, or should i stick to the one flash.

I would try it with no flash first, and then if it's too blurry for you, go ahead and flash. I rarely flash before doing the final black print. It depends on how much ink you are putting down. When using 156 mesh, it leaves sharp lines with no flashing for me. Just try both ways and see how it looks... can't hurt. Flashing really slows down the process, especially when you have to wait for it cool too before printing the black.

Since the black is trapping the other colors it it advised to flash at least for a second ro two. You will notice where the color overlap if you do not flash. Might be minimal yet it will be noticeable
