Here's a little summin' I been working on:

[dammit, cut n' paste is failing me so the table will have to remain elsewhere for now, so here's a cutdown version:]

34t = 86
55t = 140
90t = 230
120t = 305
150t = 380

This is the old Saati mesh count table I made in 2001 when I was Product Manager at Lawson. Every mesh manufacturer publishes a mesh chart.

I want you to specify actual thread diameters in microns, the the archaic letter designations for thickness. Ask your self - "What is t compared to m? or What is 70 microns compared to 34 microns? Thread diameter in microns is printed on the selvage edge of mesh on the bolt.

Mesh for Screen Printers

Here is a section of the HUGE article I wrote in 1995 for The Printers' Guidebook on choosing mesh. Not really updated. Fresh as 1995.

Pre-Press 3

This is from a Special Effects Inks seminar I've done with Union Ink reps Jeff Proctor and Mike Ukena:

Glass Beads 13 Use middle thread thickness
Glitter 25
Crystalina 38 -61
Caviar Beads 61
Foil 83-110
Shimmer 61-110
Puff 61-110
Suede 86-125
Blacklight Clear 110 w/o Crystalina

High Density 61-83 Use thinner thread
Hi-Gloss Clears 83
Dry Dusted Glitter
Crystalina Flakes

Anyone know if there's a conversion system for image resolution to mesh count? I'm trying to print out images with high pixelated half tones such as Victorian picture frames and skateboard wheels, should anyone need an example.

I'm sure we have some mis-communication with terms.

Do you need a mesh suggestion based on the line count of your halftone?

The image should be irrelevant, the screen & ink don't know or care.

"Pixelated halftones" would be halftones distorted or corrupted by large pixels - which liquid ink on textiles will change.

Mesh should be chosen to support the smallest 'spot' you want print and the mesh thickness is determines the ink deposit.

As a starting point I suggest:

40 line halftone 305 threads per inch
50 line halftone 305 threads per inch
60 line halftone 305 threads per inch

Then when you get some results, you can decide to make a mesh change for different results like changing golf clubs for different support or deposit.
