Need to Register?

Anyone ever try using discharge paste as a "screen printing" ink? (I know the concepts and products are entirely different but you get the idea.)

I've used this method when stenciling shirts but I've got a mid-sized run to do and wanted to get some feedback about using discharge paste with screens instead of stencils. I know I'll probably have to wash the screens between prints and take extra good care to not clog the screens but I'm pretty used to that since I mostly use water-based inks.

Looking for any tips and good ideas from fellow crazy screen printers...

Not sure what Discharge paste is? What brand and manufacturer? Would like to read the technical data sheets.

I know I can screen with it. Just wanted to see if anyone has tried it yet.

Test, Test, Test!
Get 2 or 3 extra black T's and run some tests. Give them a wash and keep track of your findings for possible future use. Good luck

Every major commercial ink company has a discharge ink. Custom made or discharge additive ink needs heat to steam the additive so it wipes out the reactive dye in the shirt. You need lots of heat and excellent ventilation.
