hello everyone, i recently got my press from silkscreeningsupplies.com and a starter kit, i tried screen printing a design yesterday, but for some reason it seemed real hard to screen print, my question is, has anyone ever thought of quitting screenprinting but stuck with it and still managed to be successful? what do you guys recommend, should i try something else, or try and see what the problem is on my press and try and fix it? thanx in advance.
Describe what your having trouble with and maybe someone here can help. Is it the actual printing itself or exposing issues that are giving you a problem?
I would suggest starting with a one color simple design first and work your way up from there.

I have a press from sss also. But I didn't buy their starter kit. It is hard at first, but once you calculate all of your times and you experiment, it becomes very easy. Are you thinking of quitting? There is nothing "wrong" with the press, if you are having trouble, I think you need to be patient and experiment. I was lucky to get the correct exposure times on my second try.
I'm doing embroidery and heat press, and not screen printing, but in general, I'd say give it some time and try and ask yourself if you enjoy what you're doing.
here's the problem that i'm stressing out over, when i do my first print, it looks good, and let's say i want to do another coat on top of that, then the registration moves and all i get is a big mess????????? how far down does the screen have to be from the printing pallet?
My name is josh I'm new to this site but been printing for about 1.5 years. WHen i first started i had lots of trouble i was clueless to the steps needed to do a good print job. I felt like quitting so many time but kept going cuz i figured i spent so much money and time i cant quit. So i suggest you continue practicing if it doesnt work the first time take a break ease your mind and try again.
Now to answer your problem you said the tshirt moves and the registration gets messed up. First rule dont print with out adhesive the adhesive keeps the shirt from moving anywhere which means if you lift the press and noticed it doesnt have enuff ink you can bring the press back down and it should land on the same spot.
If it is white you are printing on black i like to put one coat of ink, flash, let it cool for a couple sec. then another coat makes the print look real nice and thorough.
you should have atleast a gap between the shirt and the screen about the size of a penny.
KEEP ON TRYING DONT LET ANYONE OR ANYTHING DISCOURAGE YOU.
man you guys all rock, i'm gonna give it more time but i think i already found my problem, my screen and pallet are about 3 pennies apart and it makes it real difficult to print like that,, so im going to readjust my press to about 1 penny between the pallet and the screen....the problem isn't the shirt moving, im using adhesive and it works perfectly i think it's the way i have my clamps registered. well quitting doesn't run through my vains, and i also didn't throw away $1,000, thank you guys so much, you guys are great supporters!!!!!!!!!!!!!
