Hmm, not sure how to put that into words The main thing is that pearlescent inks are fairly matte and relatively subdued, whereas fluorescent inks are very bright. Pearl is much closer to metallic in effect.

It's an additive, which you can put into the base (or possibly buy pre-mixed in base). You use standard pigments.

I'm pretty sure it's in the base as we have a "pearl white base" and a "pearl gold base" then we add the pigments to get our desired colour.
