Cool Underbase Question

I am printing the team name COWBOYS in navy blue with a white outline on a red t shirt. Can I lay down a white underbase, flash, then lay down the same underbase screen, for a brighter white, flash , then go with the blue?
Or should I lay down the underbase, flash, then have seperate screens for the blue text, and a screen for the white outline? Which works best?
I've had images fade on the outer edges of the graphic in the past, not sure if that has anything to do with the flashing/curing or the ink?
Thanks

Default Re: Underbase Question

Yes you can print the same white twice for a brighter white print than print the navy.
There are actually 3 ways you could print this resulting in pretty much the same result.

#1
White flash white (same white plate) flash navy
#2
white flash white (only areas where the white s not covered by the navy [highlight white]) flash navy
#3
white flash white flash navy
there is no underbase under the navy. being that the shirt is red and the ink is navy you should be fine without an underbase as navy is a dark color.

essentially with #3 you would only be printing a highlight white resulting in a softer hand to the print as there are less layers of ink.

You can also halftone the underbase area to about a %90 tint to reduce ink deposit.
