Default loading shirts straight

How do you load a shirt straight. I can get it centered but the print seems to be tilted one way or the other. Ive tried using the "grain" but its not working too good. Also the shirts dont have a crease running straight down the front. Thanks in advance for all the advice you can give. Elizabeth

Elizabeth--just keep practicing and it will come. I to had the same problem but now it comes easier everytime I do it.

Also make sure your screens and design are straight when you mount them to the press. I did 5 shirts one time and couldn't get them straight then I checked the screen the way it was mounted guess what Yup it was crooked.

good Luck Dad

you can also try sliding the shirt all the way till the sholders seams stop the shirt from moving any further on your pallet. then pull back the shirt by pinching the sholder seams on both sides, untill your shirt is at your desired position.

and like the post before mine, practice. it will come to you before you know it.

And that "crease" down the front is NOT NECSSARILY the center. Check out this explanation on another site.

I would agree with the crooked print giving character...."It is designed that way", however never trust the crease, it will lead you down a bad road.

Make certain your screen is centered and straight, I personally drew on the pallet a center line that I align the "center" of my art work with. I always put registration marks on the art work, even if it is a one color job. This way I can register where the art work is going to print.

Once you have the screen on straight, load your shirt. Until you get the feel for it, use a ruler and measure the distance of the sleeve seam to the top of the pallet on both sides, make sure they are even, then you will have it centered on the shirt.

Hope this helps, after a bit of measuring you will be able to get the feel of the shirt.

Did any one think to ask if Elizabeth was printing on a screen press or a heat press? There are a few tools out there to sight in a shirt and print for transfers.
If you look into the "search" part of the forum you should find something on that type of tool.
Either way your printing Elizabeth, time and doing, is the best way, but a tool can help. Good luck to you. Sorry i can't help more if your heat pressing, cause I'm a screen guy myself.

It's not a matter of "thinking to", it's a matter of checking which forum a post in in so you don't have to ask.
