Just a quick question. I'm very new to screen-printing et al. I've just got some of that filler that you expose to UV light to create your templates. Some of the stuff I've read says that I need a UV lamp in order to do so.. Is this true or can i use natural light? If so, how long do I need to leave it out for?
I guess I can always give up some of my precious, precious sunbed minutes..
I suppose it depends on the type of emulsion (I take it that's what you mean by 'that filler' as it's what you need... filler is usually the stuff you can use after you've made your screens to fill in any gaps in the emulsion).
I use a couple of 500W halogen lamps suspended over the screen.
Have a look at this video tutorial.... Untitled Page
Step 4 shows how to expose with the lamps (with their kit), but it's worth looking the full tutorial if you're new to it anyhow.
Just to make a funny, exposing youeself might get you in jail
I dont know anythign about your emulsion so I cannot help. You best bet is probably going to be doing a couple of tests until you get it right.
500w...single light source 8 to 10 inches from the glass will burn a screen in about 12 to 15 minutes...pretty good for hardware store stuff...just remember to take the glass off the front...it's UV coated for your protection!LOL

Meant to sat thanks for the advice.. I winged it with a 100w bulb and an extended exposure time. Worked out fine and led me to print my first proper t-shirt! Was very happy with the results!!
