Apologies if this information is out there but right now I can't get the search function to work for me :-(
I need to submit designs complete with PMS colors to my screenprinter before tomorrow. So I am trying to match the colors I want to use with their pantone equivalents.
Which system do screenprinters use? I am looking at a choice of 14 right now , including process coated, solid to process, solid matte etc. Some of the colors look very different so I need to be sure I get the right one (and being Sunday my printer is closed). Even knowing the letters they stick on the end would help!

Thanks in advance!
We use the PANTONE "Coated/Uncoated" formula guide. A typical PMS request would say, for instance, 395-C

Re: Which PMS color matching systems do printers use?
Just use an uncoated booklet. Might be disapointed if you use a coated book. So like 417u would be 417 uncoated. Using standard colors would ease your printers mind also

That's a very good point. What are the standard colors and where can I find representations of them? Ii don't necessarily need PMS matching but don't want my magenta to become a hot pink or whatever.
Re: Which PMS color matching systems do printers use?
each ink brand will have varying colors as their standard stock colors. Each brand should have a mixing system both Plasticol and pigment based that you can use to mix all pms colors.
Re: Which PMS color matching systems do printers use?
Just tell your printer what color you want. They will make the suggestion if you should have a white plate under it to get the color. It's not rocket science.
Re: Which PMS color matching systems do printers use?
we use the uncoated (U) book for water base and the coated (C) book for plastisol. some companies bring us TPX (textile/int. design) colors as well but we don't use it internally.
