There are several good press' out on the market. For your first printer...Rilley Hopkins makes one of the best and has a good price. Work Horse made the one I use but it costs around one thousand $ more. I would stress to you that you get a six color press so that you'll not limit yourself on colors. That is one of the biggest mistakes newbe's make. After a little while you might get into four-color-process, and boom!...your stuck without a head to print a white underbase.
I might add...don't skimp on a dryer either. Just starting out...one good sized order that dose not cure right and your out of the biz.
If I can help you with more intel...e-mail me (groegoryhamrick@netzero.net). I have twenty three years in the biz and would gladly help.
I am actually in the process of purchasing the Riley Hopkins 6 color 4 station Win series. The best thing I liked about it was the Joystick calibration. I've dealt with micro calibration, and of corse old school manuel. The joystick makes registering for easy almost under a minute. My advice is go to silkscreensupplies.com, send Ryan and e-mail with your budget and space requirements, and he can put together a real good package for you.
Good advise. I was thinking about the Riley 4-color to start out also. But a lot of people say go with the six color? Why do you have to have the white under base for printing on darks? I have not done much dark ecept some white ink only. Is it better to have white ink under a color on a dark shirt? Is that what we are saying.
most colors you'll need to print white underneath to getthe color to show as bright as possible or else your colors won't be as vibrant, again this depends on the color.
