Hi, since I've found this forum a while back I have learnt an immense ammount of things about t-shirt production,,, and I've only been doing Inkjet heat transfer with my home iron, but it was a very limiting process, as I could never print anything bigger than A4, (the paper was that size... *sigh*)

and so I've thought of going to a screen printer for some of my larger designs, and i was wondering where i can get abot 15-25 shirts well printed (i don't need like industry standar-top of the range printing because I don't want to risk spending too much yet) in melbourne or even australia, at a cheap price, most places i've asked for printing have a $55 setup cost and $25 per shirt thereafter which is too expensive - they were DTG printers though...


I want to do a very small run first, because as i'm not sure if i will be able to sell many if i did a large run (although i've had very good responses from people wanting them ) and i don't know if have the time this year for a lot of that (i.e. promotion and stuff) as I'm in my final year of high school...

just so you know, this first shirt i want to do is on black shirt with a 3 colours design of A3 size...if that helps? lol

So does anyone know any good places? or even international screen printers that ship to AUS? (i've read the other thread about "melbourne sources" and australian sources too and i may end up going with them)

and if you're going to suggest a fulfilment company, please suggest someone you HAVE personally dealt with and not just someone you've heard about

That's laughably bad. I doubt I could maintain my composure if someone gave me that quote.

There are 271 businesses listed under "screen printers" in the Yellow Pages, which is probably a good place to start.

My strong contention is that it is best to forget Australia for a small run like that. If you go through the past posts on this topic, you'll see the pros and cons of Aust vs the US for these small screenprint jobs. I've personally researched this exhaustively, and in the end concluded that a good US screenprinter can offer more cost-effectively both better Tshirts blanks and cheaper screenprinting of small runs than their Aust counterparts. Many others have posted similar findings. The only drawback is that you'll have to wait a little longer due to the freight time involved, but if you go for air freight, this is only a week or two.

I used a US company for my recent run of 2 designs totalling 60 tshirts, and could not be happier with the result, the service or the end price, which was cheaper - including freight charges - than anything of comparable quality I could find in Australia.
