printer set-up I hope this is the right place to post this question. I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my printer set-up. I want a printer/s to produce film positives and dye sub and chromablast prints. I know there are sytem packages (the Tri-Brid epson 4880) that will do all this, but if I buy separate printers for each thing (one for film, one for dye sub inks, and one for chromablast inks), do they have to be specific printers or is it just a matter of software and inks. For example, if I buy an epson 3000 or epson1400, what do I have to do to it to make it print film positives? dye sub? chromablast? Because I can buy 3 epson 3000's for much cheaper than the Tri_Brid. And if I buy 3 printers, can I use one software such as AccuRIP or MultiRip for all 3 printers? The only reason I'm even thinking about the 4880 is because of it's wider format and especially because of its ability to use rolls of film rather than sheets. I feel that will save a lot of money on film. But I'm weary of spending nearly $4000 for 1 printer. If it goes down, all 3 processes go down. If I can spend $600 for 3 3000's and a rip software ($500) that's only $2300. That leaves almost $1700 for the inks and papers/film. So does anyone have any info on this. Does anyone have any input on the 4880 tri-brid? Other printer set-ups people have? Thanks for any insight. I appreciate it. |
