Feedback needed on 2 day training classes from Ryonet
Hello All...
I am thinking about taking some screenprinting classes. I've looked online and a found a vendor.
Has any one ever taken the 2 Day training from R**net.com??
The reason I ask is because the cost is $350 for the 2 day session.
Can any one let me know if it is worth the money or not.
Thanks in advance.
you tube screen printing. there are 5 or 10 solid people who make a series of videos showing the steps. equipments is most important. spend the 350 on equip and visit a local supplier and ask questions. alot of web suppliers around nyc list the required chems and instructions for novice

Reason: add more
My wife and I took the class in March. I have been screen printing for a number of years, but recently upgraded to some more professional equipment through them. We decided to take a mini-vacation up to Portland and also take the class. I think it was a good basic class. I've watched most of their videos and others youtubes, and I think you can learn a lot from that, but I really enjoyed the class.
I think it is not a bad idea to watch the videos to get started, and then after a little while go to the class. If you go before you ever have screenprinted, I think a lot of good tips and techniques go right over your head. Also, you'll get a lot of questions answered that you wouldn't of even thought to ask if you have zero experience.
Lastly, I think no mater who you buy your equipment from, if they offer a class it is a good idea to take it. You get to meet in person, go out to dinner with, etc a lot of people from the company and make some good relationships that are invaluable as you go forward.

I took the class last year and really enjoyed it. I was worried about it being a two day long sales pitch but that was not what it was about. It was about teaching many different techniques and processes from grayscale halftone, to screen coating, to dye sublimination, to 7-color jobs with special effects. They did a great job of fielding questions, I am sure if you had a specific process that you wanted to learn, they would set it up to show you. For instance one of the people in my class was interested in discharge printing, so they made a point to spend some extra time on it. Overall it was extremely informative and I think it was money well spent. I do agree that if you "kind of" know how to do the process and have done a few shirts, you will gain a lot more out of it. I look forward to going back to take an advanced class with them someday.

I took the class in June in Arkansas. It was well worth it. My class was fortunate because it was the smallest they had ever had... only about 4 people total. So we were able to get a lot of hands on experience. I've heard they've had as many as 14 people in a class, but even with that many students I still think the class would be worth it. It was definitely better that I watched a lot of their online videos and DVDs and had even done some screenprinting before I went. If I didn't know anything I would have gotten less out of it, but it's still a very good class for beginners. Just make sure you ask as many questions as you can while you're there. That's what's you're paying for: the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills.
The Arkansas class is in a very small town called Lead Hill out in the middle of no where (I think the population is 300 people), but it's cool because there's a cheap little hotel nearby mostly used by fishermen at a nearby lake. I think the hotel was only $35 a night, and it's only a 2-3 minute drive to the class from there. I'm sure the class in Vancouver, WA would have more equipment to see/use, but if you live more in the middle of the country like I do the Arkansas class is a great value.

I just took the class this past weekend. It was awesome and they answered all the questions we had and more. It is well worth the money. In fact if you ever want to take the class again it is free. They are the only place I buy my screen printing supplies from. You also get all the cds so if you ever have questions you have them on hand to watch. Lisa

I took the class a while back in NY, in addition to the class they give you a while collection of CD's and a binder with some great info. It's a basic how-to course, but it covers just about everything you need to know to get started. I believe they offer some discounts on equipment if you attend the class, but it's not a sales-oriented course at all.

I also took the class in Arkansas and it was a great help
to me. If you have been learning to do it with videos and trail and error they can help you a lot. my class was about
12 people but we got to do everything we wanted to. Yes if you have something you want to try they will set it up and
you and you classmates all get in on the fun..
Love that metro known as lead Hill ark. great place.

I took their class in Vancouver, WA a couple of years ago.
Excellent!
Well worth the money and it puts you so far ahead of the learning curve.
I took the class before I got my all of my equipment.
I KNOW that they put me way ahead of where I'd even be now if I hadn't taken the class.
You can't go wrong.
