Cool Newbie Question

With absolutely no silk screening experience how long would it take to learn, from the day you received your equipment, to print a three color on dark t-shirt. Looking what the approximate time might be.

That's a loaded question.

Take a good class and you can print dark shirts when you get home. But it takes some time and practice to be skilled and efficient, especially printing multicolor on dark.

Do you have some plan or method for learning this business?? Your answer on the time required lies there.

Loaded is right lol. It first of all depends totally on the design! But actually learning to push/pull a squeegee and lock screens onto a press and load shirts on a platten will take little time at all. To get good at it (learning which meshes to use, print order, etc.) takes years. To master it........don't think anyone's ever mastered it...seriously. But the principles, the basics,.... they're pretty simple. After all, it's just a stencil. Just like when we were in kindergarten. But seriously, if you watch someone who knows what they're doing print that job, you'll have a good idea of what it's all about. From there, it's just trial and error, as Rexx said.

Thanks. I have been researching and watching some videos. Printing white's on darks for good opacity looks challenging. I am trying to purchase the machine and produce good quality before advertising and promoting. So trying to get an idea of how much time to plan learning before selling. Any suggestions if I were to have a 6 col 6 station press how many screens I should have on hand. Is there any other equipment that I should have to make set-up more efficient that would not be included in most start-up packages.

There area lot of great printers/consultants that are located through out the country that love to educate people from their years of knowledge. I would highly recommend doing the research and reaching out to someone in your area; even if you need to pay for the education it will greatly reduce the trial & error learing curve on the basic skills of printing.
