I just inherited a Chaparral 4 color 4 platen manual press.
I was wondering what it's value is.
I may keep it and use it as a secondary press, It works great, excellent registration and all, But I dont have enough room. I may also sell it.
can anyone tell me the fair market value of this press?
Thanks,
Bauds
You're right, Don
There should be some kind of response........
#1 There is a site digitsmith.com that can help you evaluate prices on similar types (other 4/4 brands).
#2 Often, used equip price is related to how fast someone wants to unload it.
#3 Although the Chaparral is no longer made, the company that did makes a comparably new Odyssey 4/4 for approximately $2.5K.
So, if reasonably used with "average mileage":
1/4 of original pricing (or new comparison) would move it relatively fast.
1/2 of original pricing (or new comparison) would eventually find a buyer, but it may take some time.
That means $600-$1200 +/- factor for condition of unit.
Note that some parts are still available for that unit if it helps you with decision making.
I guess it is worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it.
I know someone who bought a used press and dryer at a school auction, with other accessories for about $500 USD - in other words, they were giving it away.
Thanks guys, for the response. I'll check out workhorse for parts, and availability.
But I may still put it up for sale, maybe here on the Forum.
And Tom, from Advanced screen, We use you, We are located in Cottonwood, Az.
We are going to send down about 10 screens that need re-screening, how long is the turnaround?
we have kids in Maricopa just south of Phx., and we would try to schedule re-screening around visit to the kids. You know drop e'm off spend a few days with our Grandkids, then Pick 'em back up on our way up north.
Does this sound feasible?
or do you send them out?
Just let Sarah, Becky, or Karen, know when you're coming back North and they'll make sure the 10 are restretched within a couple of days for your return.
Thanks for your business, and enjoy the R&R in Maricopa.
